Researchers Urge Reducing Meat Consumption to Prevent Cancer

A recent article in The Guardian, titled "Cut red meat intake and don't eat ham, say cancer researchers" details a new and authoritative 850-page report by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), advising people to limit consumption of "red meats such as beef, pork, and lamb, and to avoid processed meat such as ham and salami altogether." Upon analysis of 263 research papers looking at factors contributing to bowel cancer, the report concludes that there is "convincing evidence" that these meats increase risk of the disease.
