Ecorazzi reports that MUSE School CA, the environmentally focused school backed by prolific director and vegan advocate James Cameron and cofounded by his wife, Suzy Amis Cameron, is phasing out all animal products from its menus, becoming the first all-vegan school in the nation.

Cameron, known for a wide range of directing ventures, including The Terminator and Titanic, switched to a plant-based diet in 2012 in order to effectively reduce his environmental impact. As Cameron told Ecorazzi this spring, "the single biggest thing that an individual can do to combat climate change is to stop eating animals." Cameron cited animal agriculture as directly or indirectly responsible for "14.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions, compared to all transportation."

"We are gradually moving toward a plant-based menu because we do call ourselves an environmental school," Amis Cameron states. Following the lead of the all-vegetarian public school in Queens, and a burgeoning Meatless Monday movement, the MUSE School appears to be part of the growing plant-based trend.
