Reasons cited for this expected transition from animal-based products to faux meat include budgetary, environmental, and health concerns.
According to JWT, improvements to faux meat are also playing an important role with special mention of Beyond Meat and its ability to even "fool some experts" and the EU's Like Meat project, which is aimed at the development of meat analogues with "excellent, well-accepted texture, juiciness, appearance and aroma based on plant proteins."
