Viva La Vegan! MFA Promotes Plant-Based Eating on Fox News Latino

The segment, which aired nationally on the Fox affiliate, dispelled common misconceptions about plant-based eating and touted the vast health benefits of transitioning to a vegetarian diet.

According to co-host Carlos Anaya, Hispanic Americans are many times "more likely to be obese than non-Hispanic whites" and as a result, "Latinos are now following a vegan or vegetarian diet." Anaya also revealed that after he adopted a vegan diet, he lost forty pounds.

Eddie explained that as a result of the rise in obesity in the United States, "people are becoming more aware of where their food comes from and how it's being produced." Noting that obesity is not just a vanity issue, Eddie discussed its link to some of the leading causes of death in the United States, including heart disease, strokes, and diabetes, and added that "vegetarians are shown to have much lower rates of obesity in this country."

Eddie also described just how easy it is to make the switch to a plant-based diet: "It's actually never been easier to follow a vegetarian diet. There are vegetarian alternatives to just about every food imaginable. And there are major restaurant chains that carry vegetarian options like Taco Bell, Subway, Denny's, and countless others."

Eddie also showcased some delicious vegan dishes from ChooseVeg.com's "Build-A-Meal" section that only took minutes to prepare. By the look of it, Eddie's Tex-Mex burrito, Tofurky club sandwich, Gardein chicken wrap, and vegan chocolate tart were sure to be devoured right after the segment ended.

As Eddie demonstrated, there are plant-based versions of virtually any food you could think of.
